In their final tuneup before districts, South Sioux City’s boys finished second and the girls were third in the River Cities Conference meet held at Mount Michael High School in Elkhorn.
The Cardinal boys finsihed the day with three conference champions, all coming in field events. Jagger Sims won the shot put and was runner-up in the discus, Jared Munoz claimed the pole vault and Avan Salas took the long jump. Salas also took third in the 200-meter dash.
Davide Petrignani was the runner-up in the high jump, Javier Delgadillo took second in the 300-meter hurdles and the 3,200-meter relay also finished second.
On the girls side, Zulema Godinez Ponce swept the throws, winning the shot put and discus. Madelynn Bohnet led a 1-2-3 finish for the Lady Cards in the pole vault.
Runner-up efforts included Khyah Vaughn in the 100-meter dash and the 400-meter relay team of Vaughn, Izzy Tranmer, Alyvia Davis and Karen Magana.
The SSC track and field teams will run in the A-4 district nexxt Tuseday at Lincoln Southwest.
