Knights fall in subdistrict, earn wild card

The Homer Lady Knights dropped a four-set match to host Humphrey/Lindsay Wednesday night in the C2-5 subdistrict volleyball tournament.

However, even though the Homer girls fell short in their 24-26, 25-14, 25-19, 25-18 loss to the Bulldogs, their season will continue as they earned one of six wild card spots for the C-2 district finals that will be played on Saturday.

Homer (27-4) drew the No. 13 seed for the 16-team district playoffs and will travel to Norfolk Catholic on Saturday to face the fourth-seeded Knights, who defeated Stanton to win their subdistrict.

The winner of Saturday's matchup advances to next week's State Volleyball Championships, which start Wednesday at Pinnacle Bank Arena in Lincoln. Winners from those games will be re-bracketed prior to the start of the tournament.
