The Ponca softball team dropped all three games during tournament action Saturday at the Wayne Invitational.
The Lady Indians opened the day with an 11-0 loss to Centura, followed by losses to Ord (14-8) and Arlington (12-5) to fall to 0-4 on the young season.
Centura broke open a scoreless game in the opener with five runs in the third inning and closed it with six more in the fourth, limiting Ponca to five hits.
Ponca got singles from Cora Jackson, Peyton Sjobom, Jaeden Hughes, Sophia Cleveland and Kora Bruening. Hughes pitched the complete game and took the loss, striking out three.
Ponca tried to rally in their second game against Ord, but came up short as the Lady Chants outhit the Lady Indians, 15-5.
Kora Bruening, Lyndsee Waldee, Hughes, Cora Rushing and Cleveland all had hits. Rushing had two RBI with a double and Bruening doubled and scored. Waldee struck out four in six innings of work for Ponca.
In the finale, Arlington put up nine runs in the second inning to take control of the game. Cleveland had two hits and scored two runs, Bruening had a single and scored twice and Jackson added a hit. Sjoborn and Hughes combined in the pitcher’s circle.
