The South Sioux City American Legion Post 307 Juniors moved over the .500 mark for the season as their bats got hot last week.

The locals jumped on Pierce early, scoring 10 runs in the second inning on their way to an easy 15-8 win at Voss Field.
Pierce opened the game with three runs in the first inning, but Post 307 responded with three of their own with an RBI single by Cael Krueger, scoring Maxwell Rogge, and a two-run single by Axton Davis that scored Kam Munoz and Charlie Aitken.

Pierce got two in the second to regain the lead, but SSC took the lead for good with a 10-run inning that saw them send 16 batters to the plate. An RBI double by Krueger scored Rogge to tie the game, and a Chayton Anderson single brought Munoz home with the go-ahead run. Two Pierce errors, a bases-loaded walk and an RBI single by Brayson Bergh capped the big inning.

Pierce pulled to within five at 13-8 before SSC put the game out of reach with two in the fifth, thanks to an RBI single by Aitken and a balk that scored the final run.

Bergh had three of SSC’s 12 hits in the game and scored two runs. Aitken, Kreuger and Anderson each had two hits, Rogge scored three times and Munoz, Bergh, Ezra Klein and Brady O’Dell scored two runs apiece. Rogge pitched five solid innings, striking out six to get the win.

On Friday, SSC scored big early and late in a 23-5 blowout win at Wakefield.

SSC scored 13 runs in the first inning, then added 10 more in the fifth as they outhit Wakefield 15-4.

The locals batted around twice in the first frame, going through lineup without getting an out on their way to the big inning. An RBI single by Rogge and an RBI double by Davis highlighted the big inning.

In the fifth, SSC had five hits and sent 14 to the plate for their third double-digit inning of the week. A two-run single by Klein capped the big inning.

Rogge, Aitken, Davis, Anderson, Klein and Paxtyn Wagner each had two hits in the win. Klein and Bergh both drove in three runs and Davis, Anderson and Wagner each scored three times. Aitken, Anderson and Wagner combined to strik out six and walk four while limiting the hosts to four hits.

SSC outhit Crofton 5-2, but three errors proved costly in a 2-1 loss on the road Monday.

Crofton led 1-0 in the fourth when SSC tied the game on an RBI single by Anderson, scoring Munoz. Crofton got the game winner with one out in the seventh when a pickoff attempt got away, allowing the hosts to plate the winning run.

O’Dell and Munoz both had two hits for the 5-4 Post 307 Juniors. Will Rohde was the hard-luck loser, striking out eight and allowing one walk and two hits in 6 1/3 innings.
