South Sioux City athletic director Jeff Squier confirmed to the Dakota County Star Tuesday that the school is looking for new head coaches for football and boys wrestling for the 2025-26 school year.

Both football coach Jackson Dickerson and boys wrestling coach Jacob Renken will not be returning to the school next year. A reason for their stepping down was not given by Squier.

Dickerson, who was the Cardinals’ head coach the past three seasons, led South Sioux to back-to-back 5-4 campaigns after a 2-7 finish in 2022. The Cardinals just missed the Class A playoffs in 2024, finishing 18th in the wild card point standings.

Renken was the Cardinals’ wrestling coach for four seasons. The Cardinal grapplers placed 13th in Class a and were led by two-time state champion Tony Palmer, who won the Class A 215-pound state title. South Sioux had two state medalists in the 2024-25 winter season, including fifth-place medalist Adrian Curiel at 190 pounds.
